National AHEC Spring Policy Days 2006

The National AHEC Organization (NAO) held its Spring Policy Days conference in Washington D.C. March 29 through 31, 2006.

Representatives from Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) throughout the United States attended the event, including the three Michigan Directors, Carolyn Weissbach (Northern), Sonji Lynn Smith (Central/Eastern) and Dianne K. Cornelius (Western).

Participants discussed current legislation and funding efforts with Congress and visited federal legislators on Capitol Hill to advocate for Title VII funding of programs to support the education and placement of health professionals in underserved areas such as Northern Michigan.
